WordPress Performance

Last updated on

Load time is not an end in itself: it determines whether visitors stay and whether Google rates the page as a good user experience. We measure, optimize and keep the result stable through ongoing maintenance.

Core Web Vitals — target values

LCPunder 2.5 s

How quickly the largest visible content appears.

INPunder 200 ms

How quickly the page responds to input.

CLSunder 0.1

How stable the layout remains while loading.

What makes WordPress websites slow

Slow websites rarely have a single cause. In practice, unoptimized images, too many plugins, an overloaded theme and missing caching add up. We first measure where the time is actually lost, instead of installing plugins indiscriminately.

Unoptimized images

Full-size photos are the most common cause. Modern formats and appropriate sizes have the biggest effect.

Too many plugins

Every plugin loads its own scripts and styles, often on all pages. Fewer plugins are usually faster and more secure.

Missing caching

Without caching, every page is rebuilt on every request – unnecessary work for the server with the same result.

External embeds

Maps, videos, chats and tracking scripts load third-party content afterwards and delay the visible rendering.

Weak hosting

On overbooked shared servers, optimization only helps to a limited extent. We tell you openly if switching makes more sense.

Bloated database

Old revisions, logs and remnants of uninstalled plugins slow down queries in the background.

Our measures

Measurement before optimization

We record Core Web Vitals for your most important pages – home page, services page, contact and, for shops, product and checkout.

Caching & compression

Page, browser and object caching properly configured – for shops with exceptions for cart and checkout.

Image optimization

Modern formats, correct sizes and lazy loading below the visible area – without visible loss of quality.

Reducing script load

Disable unnecessary scripts on pages that don't need them, and serve fonts locally.

CDN delivery

In Business Enterprise via Bunny CDN: shorter paths to the visitor and protection against traffic spikes.

Continuously monitored

After every update we check the load time again. Optimization that isn't maintained decays within months.

What we don't promise: a specific PageSpeed score. The score fluctuates by measurement and device. The target is the real-world usage data from the Core Web Vitals.

How an optimization works

01

Measure

Baseline values for the most important pages, on mobile and desktop.

02

Prioritize

First the measures with the greatest effect at the lowest risk.

03

Implement

Changes step by step, checking the appearance after each step.

04

Re-measure

Comparison with the baseline values, documented in the monthly report.

Questions about performance

We measure your website free of charge and tell you what will make the biggest difference.

Request a performance check

We don’t promise that. A score of 100 is rarely realistic for websites with images, forms and tracking. The real-world usage data in the Core Web Vitals matters more.

No. We work on the technical side and check the appearance after each step. If a measure has visible consequences, we agree on it with you beforehand.

Usually not. If the server is the limiting factor, however, we say so and suggest alternatives – with no commission and no pressure to switch.

Only with ongoing monitoring. New plugins, large images and updates worsen the values again – which is why performance is part of monthly maintenance.
